Clear As Mud!

Pottery Show October 25, 26, 27,28 - 2019

Call For Entries

The Clear As Mud Pottery Show’s aim is to promote potters from throughout New Zealand, attract visitors to Waihi and further showcase the visual arts in the area. All proceeds from the sale of the artwork will go back to the artist. All levels of potters will be included from novice to professional.

Clear As Mud will be held at the Waihi Art Center & Museum, 54 Kenny Street, Waihi October 25-28th, 2019.

Submissions are invited from emerging and established ceramic artists. Delivery and pick-up of all work is encouraged but arrangements can be made for shipment at the artists expense.

Key Dates:
Deadline for applications: Friday, September 13, 2019
Works Delivered: Wednesday, October 23rd - 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 24th - 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Exhibition Dates: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, October 25th-28th
Pick Up of Unsold Work: Monday, October 28th - 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Entry Costs: $45.00 for up to 3 pieces/ $5 each additional (up to 5 pieces)
*As this in our inaugural show, we will place a minimum of 3 pieces and if space allows, place all 5 pieces.

Tea Bowl Competition

The "Society of the Popularization of the Early Morning Tea Bowl" presents a Competition & Exhibition hosted by gallery on blueskin

We invite tea bowl submissions in 2 categories........

  1. Traditional
  2. Originality

A prize of $150.00 cash will be awarded in each category and honorable mentions will  be given.

All finalists will be chosen to be part of the Exhibition opening on 17 March which continues through to 8 April 2019.

  1. Contributors may submit more than one piece of work but please be sure to clearly mark which category the piece is for.
  2. If contributors wish for their pieces to be 'for sale' then please also include prices.   The gallery commission is 40%
  3. Contributors names, phone numbers and email are required.
  4. Tea bowl submissions will need to arrive at the gallery (1 Harvey St, Waitati 9085) no later than 5pm on Thursday 14 March.   Finalists will be advised on Friday 15 March.

Please note.....

The independent judge will be retired gallery owner and long time collector, Marshall Seifert. "Consideration of weight will be strongly considered in the judging"

Registered as an incorporated society in 1965 by an enthusiastic group of potters in Wellington, New Zealand, Ceramics NZ has grown to become a significant international voice in New Zealand ceramics. The affiliation of about three dozen independent pottery clubs throughout New Zealand together with a number of corporate businesses greatly increases its effective membership. We are a national, not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of practising potters and ceramicists, students of ceramics and all those interested in New Zealand ceramics. We actively support and promote quality, and we encourage and support specialist ceramics education nationally.
