Nelson/Marlborough Report – June 2022
Our Touring Potter Programme with Carla Ruka was in Nelson during her second region visit for 2022. Our thanks to Marion Bansgrove, Karin Roehling, Rosie Gardiner and all the wonderful people at Craft Potters Nelson who looked after Carla on her workshop days there. Those that attended have passed on some very positive feedback on their experience and Carla’s wonderful teaching style. The free public artist talk at The Suter Art Gallery was also well attended.…

Remembering Dorothy Ewart – New Zealand Potter

Dorothy Ewart, who passed away on 8 January 2022 in Auckland at the age of 96, occupied a unique but relatively unknown place in our pottery history. Her work features quintessential New Zealand designs and patterns while demonstrating a steadfast commitment to a singular vision. Northland Report – June 2022
Carla Ruka traveled to Northland over three weeks in April/May giving workshops and artist talks in the first of five region visit for the 2022 Touring Potter Programme. Students at Hihiaua Cultural Centre and Reyburn House, in Whangārei and Akau Studio in Kaikohe learnt Carla’s unique coiling technique to build large scale works. Wellington/Western Districts Report – June 2022
The Otaki Pottery Club presents Star Glaze. A mid winter ceramics festival starting next Thursday 23rd until Sunday 26th June. 10-4 each day. The ceramics festival is indoors, as are potters demonstrating, with an outdoor raku display and mobile blacksmith working at his forge.
