Quarry Ceramic Awards – This April our main gallery space has been filled with an incredible and diverse collection of ceramic arts for the Quarry Ceramic Awards. A massive thank you to all who attended our opening night and had the gallery bursting at the seams! 49 incredible finalist works from artists across Aotearoa are exhibited, with 7 award winners thanks to this year’s sponsors Decopot, Bot Pots, Driving Creek Railway, Quarry Arts Centre, Kiwi Underglaze and Creative Northland. Manawa Matariki Community Firing – Quarry Arts Centre.

Spaces are selling fast on our largest communal wood firing of the year, set to take place June 20-21 under the Matariki stars. Last year’s firing saw over 800 pieces of work fired by 50+ Northland potters. Register for a full or half shelf soon to avoid missing out! Registration ends June 2nd . TUTOR CALL OUT

QAC is looking for new tutors!

We’re interested to hear from creatives with skill sets across mediums; ceramics, painting, drawing, textiles, weaving… or any medium you can think of!

This could be for one-off workshops, workshops offered in parts or as a series and longer courses. We’re keen to hear from tutors for all ages groups / abilities – Adult, Children, mixed group or all ages.

Bring your skills and ideas to an existing workshop format like Beginner Clay programs, or share your ideas with us and we’ll help to produce a workshop with you.

Fire and Earth – Maungatapere, Whangarei

Thinking ahead and planning for July, a heads up on what is in the pipelines, as the next newsletter may not give people enough time to organise and join in on some of the workshops.

A bit of a Firefest, in collaboration with Israel Dawson and Pete Brammer, we will be running a series of workshops across a week in July at Fire and Earth, exploring and celebrating the refining element of fire.
