Studio Maintenance
We are using some of the term holiday period to carry out some maintenance, including work on the floor of the mezzanine. The floor upstairs needs to be sealed so there will be a high level of fumes for a few days. This means we will have to close the studio during the 2nd half of the holidays. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Volunteering
Our clay community is wonderful. The WSP club is both a charity and an incorporated society, running on a shoestring with the help of our amazing volunteers who fill our hearts with gratitude.
Recently, we have had a team of volunteer wood firers working on a project to glaze and fire a vast amount of bisqueware in our collection. The results are spectacular and if you would like to see some of the works, a lot are on display in the kitchen cabinets. Deep gratitude goes out to Janet Smith, Ginny Lane, Clare Wimmer, Yasmin Davis, Barry O’Brien and Julie Burwell for their heroic work.
Exhibitions
Waikato Society of Potters Club exhibition
Our annual club exhibition is approaching with the opening scheduled for 5.30pm 17th August and will be held at Arts Post, Hamilton. It will run from the opening on the 17th August until the 24th September. It is open to all Members of WSP. Entry forms will be up on our website soon.
We are seeking a new sponsor(s) for our Waikato Society of Potters 2023 annual exhibition.
Unfortunately, one of our major sponsors has changed how they will support clubs so we have lost two of our major awards this year. If you or your business would like to sponsor or contribute to an award at our exhibition, please get in touch. It is a wonderful exhibition that is a notable event in the Waikato ceramics calendar, showing a wide range of skills and talent amongst our community of ceramic artists.
