Potters clay Nelson
Hayley and Tyler from Potters clay have been formulating a new clay in collaboration with a few potters. This idea was born from new connections forged during Clay Week last year. The common theme during clay week was โwe want less refined clay.โ While a number of clay pits have closed over the years, Hayley and Tyler are confident they can formulate a clay body which will fill this gap in the market.
While the thought of a beautiful unrefined clay is great, the reality can be a body plagued with issues, so it has been an interesting challenge removing problems, without losing the character of the local clays. They have now narrowed down the bodies to a few options which will be refined over the next wee while. Watch this space!

McGlashenโs pottery business has sold
Royce McGlashenโs pottery in Brightwater has sold to new owners, who will be introduced in coming months. This means a continuation of the popular production items much loved throughout Aotearoa. Royce will be involved guiding the change over, and will still be working on existing commissions.
The clay body produced at McGlashenโs, Tokyo White will still be produced and available at the usual stockists, with another 20 tonne or so planned.
Royce has also been working on a book about his life, so watch this space for more news on that later in the year.
