News from Driving Creek: New Courses for 2024, Driving Creek Handmade Pottery Shop and 50^th Anniversary Celebrations!

It’s been a busy year here in the pottery at Driving Creek and we have some exciting announcements to share with everyone.

New Intensive Throwing Courses for 2024

We are now offering five day wheel throwing courses. These courses are a fully immersive opportunity to develop your pottery skills, find inspiration and learn with expert tutors. 

We currently have two types of courses on offer:
The Five Day Intensive Throwing Course is aimed at all skill levels. This will cover the basics and take students through a range of different forms, as well as pulling handles and trimming. These courses will be taught by one of our highly trained and experienced pottery tutors.

The Five Day Production Throwing Course is aimed at potters with a little more experience on the wheel who are looking to increase their speed, accuracy, efficiency and repetition of forms. Callum Trudgeon will be tutoring these courses. Callum worked and trained at the Leach Pottery in St. Ives and holds a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with you all.

Driving Creek Handcrafted Pottery Range Now Online

Callum Trudgeon, our recent import from The Leach Pottery in St. Ives, has been hard at work designing a range of domestic ware that pays tribute to the legacy of Driving Creek. The range has been lovingly handcrafted onsite by Callum and fellow production potter Matilda Halley.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all profits from sales go back into arts, conservation and our community. The range is available for sale in our shop and online here: https://shop.drivingcreek.nz/

50th Anniversary Celebrations, Save the Date!

To mark fifty years since the inception of Driving Creek, we’re excited to announce we’re bring back “The Do” for 2024. We will be hosting a series of workshops and events here at Driving Creek over the October-November 2024 period. Earth Rising Exhibition

Patricia Brickell and Elinor Kennedy Exhibition ‘Earth Rising’ at Barry Brickell Gallery is opening on Friday 8th December @ 5pm.

The exhibition full of vibrant colours will run from 8th to 31 December.
