Northland Report, August 2021

Our 2022 Touring Potter Programme focusing on large scale sculpture with Carla Ruka is scheduled for Northland in April/May next year. These are three day workshops held across three consecutiveย weeks. Public talks will also be included in these visits. This programme is subject to funding and will be confirmed in November.

The Quarry Open Ceramics Awards have been rescheduledย to the end of November. The winners will now be announced after 5pm on Friday 26th November. The Exhibition will run from Friday 26th November – Saturday 18th December. The Gallery is open 9.30am-4.30pm Monday – Saturday (closed Sunday). A workshop with awards judge Carla Ruka is waiting on confirmation but it is hoped it will be that same weekend.

The Great Plate Fundraiser raised over $15, 000 this year. A big thanks to all the makers and purchasers, that helped this event be so successful.

Finally The Quarry Arts Centre has a new kiln! It was installed Friday and is now up and running.ย This German built machine is top of the line: 400 litre capacity, 1m height, temps up to 1300ยฐC with a state of the art temperature control, and a trolley floor for easy stacking.ย The kiln will continue the long standing service of a community kiln for Northland.
