Our 60th Diamond Jubilee Exhibition has closed on 20 November. How quickly the time went by! Labour Weekend was action-packed with the opening of the exhibition and other associated events (a guided galleries walk in town and demonstrations at the Otago Polytechnic). The Portage Ceramics Awards will open on December 4th at Te Uru Gallery in Titirangi. This year because of Covid restrictions the awards will be broadcast on Friday 3rd of December, keep an eye on the Portage Ceramics Facebook page for details on how to tune in. Auckland is still in lockdown. Shops and galleries are closed, many exhibitions are being postponed or cancelled. Auckland potters continue to make work, some at kitchen tables or make shift back porch studios. Auckland Studio Potters is managing to contactlessly fire members’ pots and supply materials but the studios are closed and many woodfirings have been cancelled. GET VACCINATED!

Fire and Earth: Ceramics from the Top of the South opens on November 13th at the Suter Art Gallery in Nelson.
